Rigid fork Empty Rigid fork

Post by primera Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:28 pm

hello ulit mga SSirs Smile

pa suggest naman kung ano dapat ang fork ko for an SS bike, may suspension ba o rigid? dati gusto ko yung XCR sana kaso the more i read/look at the pictures here, napansin ko marami sa mga naka SS ay naka rigid. Is this because mas mura? mas magaan? mas stable lalo na kung paakyatan? enlighten me please....

pa suggest na rin po kung anong brand ang available na rigid forks dito sa mga lbs natin, and if ever yung same or mas mura na price kaysa XCR...

my frame is a GT Ava 2.0...

and i'm a noobie to mtb SS...

TIA Very Happy

it actually depends on the rider what fork he or she wants to use. yes a rigid fork is lighter, masarap sa climbs but when the terrain gets rough you will learn to look for the smoothest line unlike on a suspension fork where you can just run the the rough stuff. maintainance wise a cromo fork i think is cheaper than a suspension fork. price difference also differs on the brand and type of fork you will buy. those carbon rigid forks are also expensive... mas mahal pa ata sa xcr un. in the end rider preference yan. me i went the rigid route and dislocated my shoulder again kaya ngayon rigid pa rin.hehehe ang labo no?
if ever you will go rigid get a suspension corrected fork for your frame so as not to mess up your bike's geometry..... or you can get a suspension fork na may lockout so you can go rigid when you want to.

Marami..may kinesis, bontrager, white brothers, fire eye..

Basta sundin mo payo ni dirtyjane na suspension corrected fork..in your case, to emulate a 100mm suspension fork.

What a Face Basta bottom line, rider preference parin..

well, there was this topic in pmtb about rigid forks. hindi sa balimbing ako pero dun kasi marami na nakasubok ng rigid forks. the only important thing i remembered was what westcoastbo said about the center to crown length na na-mention na ni jc boy. tapos importante rin syempre kung ano recommended na fork travel ng frame.

ang akin lang. kung ang fork mo e kasing bigat ng rigid fork or magkalapit lang ang timbang, dun ka na sa mas comfortable. i don't think i'll go back to rigid, unless mag 29er ako. kahit na naka 2.3 tires, namamanhid yung arms ko after a while eh. What a Face comfort for an additional kilo..

kung ginagamit mo rin pang offroad, i suggest kuha ka may suspension. kung pang road commuting/urban application, go rigid pre. but if you want a classic look, rigid din. panindigan mo na lang pag nag off road ka.

Get the RST Gila Pro na may Remote lockout, mga 2500 or less yata bili ko.
GT Avalancehe din frame ko.

Mahirap ang rigid sa Rocky trail.

thanks a lot to all your replies. at least mababawasan na yung sleepless nights...thinking which is which...is which...is which...
for me, after all your replies i'll go with suspension na muna, and yeah i might get the xcr na lang, tapos maybe for my next build saka na ako mag 'old skul' look, a cromo frame maybe with rigid fork, i think mas bagay yun dun...

by the way i saw a jamis exile frame in jensonsusa.com for $169...WOW! WHAT A SSEXY FRAME Shocked

anyway thanks again to all you guys, matutupad na...konting tulog/tiis na lang...makakasama na ako sa mga SS rides nyo. Smile
