Athertons to retire, change focus

The Atherton siblings, current darling in the downhill and 4x World Cup, have decided to hang up thier race plates and take on a more challenging field... accounting.

Citing general boredom, burnout and a desire to leave at the top, the Atherton brothers Gee and Dan have called it quits and intend to move towards the highly exciting and challenging sport of World Cup accounting.

"Well, we've put a lot into this whole bicycle thing" says Gee Atherton. "The thing is right, you train and ride and risk yourself all day, and for what? The money is decent, but wheres the fame? The glory? Me, Dan and Rach, we've proved that we're bloody good, and kicked ass in a lot of different ways. I even beat a car on Top Gear. Its not gonna get much better then that now is it? But with World Cup accounting, theres so many things we can tackle. Investments, taxes, even daily ledgers...its mind boggling."

"I'm just excited to move to a sport where the only cute girl in the whole bloody thing isn't your sister." says Dan. "Have you seen those little business skirts? F*** me."

While the brothers have made thier motives and next moves clear, less clear is the path of Rachael Atherton. Analyists beleive that her recent shoulder injury could affect her typing speed, and fine mouse control in excel spreadsheets. We were not able to reach her at press time.

The Athertons have already signed on a few new sponsors including Citibank, Hugo Boss for suits and almost pleasant but subtly nauseating cologne. Shimano is rumored to be working on a Saint calculator just for the Athertons, while Fox is working on extremely comfortable chairs, with FIT carts controlling all damping.

The Accounting World Cup is a relatively new sport, with only 9 years (36.4 quarters) in the books. With stops in Japan, Sweden, Germany, the Bahamas and New York, the World Cup is an exciting series to watch, document, file, and claim as a business expense.
